This Friday, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, reaffirmed his willingness to enter into negotiations with his counterpart from the United States (USA), Donald Trump, to find a solution to the Ukrainian conflict.
“We have always said, and I want to stress it once again, that we are ready for these negotiations on the Ukrainian problem,” said the president.
“But here, too, there are issues that require special attention,” Putin continued, recalling that Vladimir Zelensky, “when he was still a fairly legitimate head of state,” decided to prohibit negotiations with Moscow by law.
In this context, the president stressed that Zelensky's decree makes it almost impossible to seriously negotiate a solution to the conflict. However, “Kiev is taking billions from the US” and “I think that in the end those who pay the money” will have to force it to annul it, Putin said. “And I think (Zelensky) will have to,” he said.
Putin added that if no one had prevented Trump from winning the elections in 2020, the Ukrainian crisis would not exist. “I can't disagree with him (Trump) that, if he had been president, if he hadn't been robbed of his victory in 2020, maybe the crisis in Ukraine, which emerged in 2022, would not have occurred.”
