This Thursday, the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, assured that the United States (USA) will have an answer after the announcement of 25% of tariffs on vehicles that are imported into her country from other countries.
Sheinbaum specified that his government will not only analyze the automotive tariffs announced by his counterpart Donald Trump, but also those scheduled for April 2 on steel, aluminum and other sectors: “We don't want to give an answer to each issue, but a comprehensive one,” he said.
In this regard, the president pointed out that the dialogue is still open, so she clarified that the date of April 3 does not mark the closing of negotiations, but rather a deadline for presenting a unified position: “It does not mean that on that day the work with the United States is closed, the doors are open for talks.”
The president ordered the Ministry of Economy to meet with global managers in the automotive sector to evaluate the impact of tariffs and strengthen productive integration with Washington.
