The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum denied a complaint from the Conference of the Mexican Episcopate (CEM) about an alleged 40 percent increase in disappearances.
“The episcopate does not have the correct information and we gladly ask the Secretariat of the Interior (Interior) to be in contact with them to explain that this is not the case,” said the head of state, during a meeting with the media this Thursday.
Sputnik highlighted that one of the six points of the CEM statement released on Wednesday afternoon is that the authorities are “trying to hide” the 40 percent increase in cases of disappearances across the country.
“Unfortunately, most of these victims are our young people”, lament the bishops.
The CEM also expressed its “deep indignation and pain” at the recent discovery of an “organized crime training and extermination camp” at the Izaguirre ranch, located in the municipality of Teuchitlán, state of Jalisco (center).
