The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, said this Wednesday that the presence of the Armed Forces and the national fleet in maritime spaces guarantees the operation of commercial routes and prevents the interruption of the country's strategic economic routes in the face of external pressures.
Through an institutional message released on the occasion of World Maritime Day, the Iranian president described the sea as a divine blessing and a fundamental part of the nation's identity, ratifying the defensive will of his Government. “Our approach to this strategic waterway is responsible and based on preserving the security, stability and interests of countries in the region,” Pezeshkian said.
In addition, the highest authority of the Persian country emphasized that peace in the Persian Gulf requires the sovereign understanding of neighboring States, rejecting the interference of foreign powers in the area of influence of the Strait of Hormuz. “Sustainable security in the Persian Gulf depends on the cooperation and active role of countries in the region,” emphasized the head of state in advocating multipolar integration.
The Iranian president praised the sustained efforts of the national maritime community to maintain economic and commercial flow over the past year, while urging the deepening of coordinated participation between shipping companies, the port network, the university sector and coastal communities to consolidate the nation's nautical development.
