The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, stated that Middle Eastern nations have sufficient capacity to guarantee regional stability and security through mutual understanding, without the need for United States (US) interference or intervention
During an official speech released by the Presidency of the Persian nation, the president highlighted the historical and cultural ties that unite the neighboring peoples of the area. “We are brothers with all the countries that surround us and we are all Muslims. Therefore, we can help each other and ensure the security of our region,” Pezeshkian said.
The head of state also questioned Washington's arguments regarding the protection of the area and criticized the high budget allocated by the North American power to the military apparatus, pointing out that a foreign presence only creates destabilization.
These statements come against a backdrop of geopolitical tensions and following recent difficulties in talks about freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important energy routes in the world.
