President of Honduras sworn in new Secretary of Defense

The president of Honduras, Xiomara Castro announced this Sunday the appointment of Rixi Moncada as the new Secretary of Defense after the resignation of José Manuel Zelaya.
“I want to announce the appointment to the position of the Secretary of Defense, to the citizen lawyer, Rixi Moncada Godoy, to fly our flag high and remind us that our true value lies in a people who are dignified, resilient and determined to forge their own destiny,” said Castro.
Rixi Moncada is a prominent figure in Honduran politics, known for her role in defending progressive policies and her leadership within the Freedom and Refoundation (Free) party .
Before her appointment as Secretary of Defense, Moncada was the Secretary of Finance, where she played a crucial role in exposing corrupt practices related to trusts, an action that earned her recognition and popular support.
According to local media, his political career has been marked by his firm commitment to social justice and the reform of the economic system, seeking equity and transparency in public administration.
