The president of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, Luis Arce, called for a national meeting with representatives of the four branches of government and political parties, with the objective of reaching an agreement that stabilizes the economy and guarantees the holding of the national elections scheduled for August 17.
Faced with the political opposition campaign promoting the resignation of President Arce, in the midst of the crisis manifested by the shortage of dollars to export fuel.
María Mela Prada, Minister of the Presidency, stated that “it has been decided, as a government of the people, to convene a meeting for stability and democracy in our country, on the way to the general elections of August 2025, for this March 18 at 09:00 local time in the Casa Grande del Pueblo”.
The objective of this meeting is to achieve an agreement that guarantees the holding of national elections in August and the transfer of the Government in November.
The government mentioned that its destabilization is due to an economic suffocation emanating from the legislature, which prevents the approval of international credits.
It also seeks to ensure the political and material conditions necessary so that democracy is not threatened, so that the electoral schedule is not interrupted and, therefore, so that forms of democratic reproduction are not affected.
In this regard, the Electoral Tribunal confirmed its assistance to remind the legislature that they are not complying with the approval of laws that guarantee the holding of the coming elections.
Tahuichi Tahuichi, member of the Supreme Electoral Court, stressed that all these actions will be carried out through the president.
