President Nicolás Maduro: Venezuela is following a path of stability and peace

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, affirmed that Venezuela is following a path of stability, peace and happiness for the people and sport forges discipline, will and effort, “we are in the final stretch of 2024".

This was stated in statements to the media from the “General José Antonio Anzoátegui” Olympic Stadium, where he inaugurated the XXI National Sports Games East 2024.

He noted that these national games are part of the momentum and preparation for the upcoming Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. “It's nice to be here and see the girl developing in sports,” he said.

“It is a sports movement that we are going to revitalize in which we must invest efforts, work, quality, methodology, professionalism, science and resources, so that Venezuela can take a new impetus in sports movements,” he stressed.

He commented that 25 federal entities are participating in these games, more than 6,500 athletes in 57 disciplines and for the first time 99 athletes from Guayaba Esequiba, “it's something historic, it was much applauded.”

He also pointed out that the Bolivarian Government is lifting up Olympic student sports movements in all high schools, schools, communes and universities.

The head of state assured that Venezuela is ready to do another Copa América. “We have the facilities and spaces of the first world, I'm going to propose to the president of the Venezuelan Football Federation that we start managing a Copa América, and I also think that in this stadium we could play some games in the classification of Red Wine for the World Cup,” he said.
