On the night of Monday, November 25, the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, assured that “the humblest must be attended to because that is where the future of Venezuelan athletes lies.”In that sense, he emphasized the need to expand sports in the country. “We have, we can say, a powerful new base for growth,” he insisted during his Con Maduro+ program, when talking about the recently closed Eastern 2024 National Games, of which he said “marked a milestone in the history of Venezuelan sports.”
He highlighted the participation of an 8-year-old girl in one of the sports competitions and specified “the average age of athletes and athletes was 17 years (...) Another very important achievement for me impressed me, I really tell you, as an athlete that I have been, an athlete that I was and still am, I was impressed by the participation and quality of women and girls in all sports”.
The President also extended his congratulations to the 24 participating states and to Caracas, highlighting the inclusion of the Guayana Esequiba state in this edition.
