The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, maintained a telephone contact with the rally commemorating the Day of Indigenous Resistance, where he highlighted the importance of exalting the legacy of struggle of the native peoples and continuing the battle for the definitive decolonization of our entire America.

“We are a fighting people and we have only one march, we have 532 years marching towards the process of definitive decolonization,” emphasized the head of state.

He indicated that those who celebrate this date today by marking it as a 'day of race' or 'of Hispanity', “are the heirs of slavery, imperialism, conquest, genocide.”

He pointed out that contrary to these positions of the right wing and European and regional fascism, “revolutionaries are the heirs of the most beautiful resistance”.
