The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, stressed this Monday that “tourism is the secret weapon to overcome oil rentism”, highlighting the increase in international visitors to the country during 2023.

During the presentation of his Annual Message to the Nation and Delivery of Memory and Account 2023 to the National Assembly, the head of state indicated that in 2024 more than 1,250,000 tourists came to Venezuela, which represents the highest number in more than 10 years, after the smear campaigns promoted by imperialism, its allies and the national right.

“The campaigns, the CIA, the same people with the last names, the López, the campaigns against Venezuela; Borges began 'don't go to Venezuela', 'block Venezuela '(...) the same last names as always, the same perverse people,” criticized the Venezuelan dignitary.

He highlighted that in “2023 we received 25% more foreign tourists, compared to 2022, in 2023. 73 tourist routes were validated in the country, governors, mayors, mayors, mayors, because the tourist route is being validated on the ground,” he added.
