20 years after Commander Hugo Chávez's call for the second Battle of Santa Inés, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, reaffirmed that Venezuelans are still “the combative people of (Ezequiel) Zamora and Chávez”.

“Inspired by the epic of our history, 20 years ago we once again defeated the rude oligarchy of surnames. Know today that we are still that combative people of Zamora and Chávez, now more united, stronger, ready and willing to repeat once again the feat of “Saint Agnes”, for Peace and the Sovereignty of the Fatherland, in any terrain and circumstance,” said the Head of State on the social network X.

On June 3, 2004 , Commander Hugo Chávez evoked the emblematic poemFlorentino and the Devil, by Alberto Arvelo Torrealba, to name the second Battle of Saint Agnes the electoral campaign by the “No”, in the face of the call for the recall referendum, activated against him on the initiative of leaders of the right.
