This Wednesday, January 31, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, assured the Government of the United States that there can be no surprises with the decisions of the Venezuelan justice system regarding disqualifications, since they knew what was being signed in the agreements.

“It's signed in the document we signed with the gringos, so there's no surprise, there's no time for scary gringos you signed too and the documents rest in our hands and are secret until they have to be secret,” said the National Executive during his speech at the Opening of the Judicial Year 2024, after reading the document of the agreements he signed in Barbados regarding political disqualifications.

In this regard, he recalled that the opponents who have political disqualifications in the country, “are for serious crimes of corruption, against the Constitution, against sovereignty, for asking for invasions, for asking for sanctions against the country.”

In addition, he noted that in many countries, including the United States, those who commit serious crimes such as these “would have the maximum penalty of life imprisonment or even the electric chair.”

He stressed that despite this, he and the Venezuelan delegation of the Bolivarian Government at the Dialogue Table agreed to sign the document proposed by the Unitary Platform.
