The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, described the process of negotiation and dialogue with the United States as “difficult” because there is a power vacuum in the North American nation.

“The relationship with the United States is not easy, because there is a power vacuum in the United States. It's obvious, isn't it? President Biden took a historic step (withdrawing his presidential candidacy) that I welcomed for reasons of his health and his life, it was a courageous step on his part; I respect and know President Biden, but I don't know Vice President Kamala,” he said.

During a press conference with national and international media, the Venezuelan Head of State explained that the North American country is in a process of electoral transition, “if it's Trump or Kamala; you will not see our opinion either to favor one or the other or to meddle in its internal affairs.”

He stressed that he has received three calls from different organs of the North American nation. “Yesterday I received one and I said: Who in the United States is you authorized to speak to me? 'I'm not going to talk to, I don't know who and I don't know who to set up a vehicle for dialogue with you' and I answered him when they have a sealed document, we'll talk to him,” he emphasized.

He reiterated his commitment to resuming dialogue and for the U.S. side to comply with the agreements signed in Barbados.
