The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, emphasized that it was the Bolivarian Revolution that made Venezuelan women visible and empowered, since in previous times “women were put aside”.

“In the past, women were discriminated against, a zero on the left and it is with the arrival of our beloved Commander Hugo Chávez that they become visible and empowered,” she said.

He stressed that from that moment on, “women will occupy a fundamental space in leadership and in the struggle, in the construction of our country”.

She recalled the creation of the National Institute for Women by Commander Chávez, “and why didn't surnames and the right wing exist before? Because surnames, the right wing and the oligarchy hate women, especially women who lead the people.”

The statement was made by the head of state, in the outdoor spaces of the National Pantheon where he led the act of transferring the symbolic remains of the Heroines Joaquina Sánchez and Eulalia Buroz to the Pantheon and International Women's Day.

She also mentioned that it was in Venezuela that for the first time in Latin American history, the Ministry for Women was created, as well as the Women's Bank, “it was Chávez”.

“Now it has been my turn for spiritual happiness and my satisfaction, following the legacy of Commander Chávez, to have founded the Great Venezuela Women's Mission, the first great mission dedicated solely and exclusively to Venezuelan women,” she emphasized.
