President Maduro: The Government guarantees treatment for breast cancer with 59 cancer centers

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, this Monday, October 7, assured that the Bolivarian Government guarantees the care, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer with 59 specialized cancer centers.

In this regard, he ordered that the Great Venezuela Women's Mission reach every corner of the country and guarantee aid to Venezuelan women in all aspects that require it.

The instruction was done in the More Health segment, of the 61st broadcast of the Con Maduro+ program, within the framework of the Month of Rose, which addresses prevention for the fight against breast cancer, decreed by the World Health Organization (WHO), for the prevention and care of breast cancer.

For her part, the vice-president for Science, Technology, Education and Health, Gabriela Jiménez, explained that through the Great Venezuela Women's Mission, “we have advanced in the First Summit, with the constitution of 35 women's units, 55% are inaugurated and operational for specialized care.”

He specified that through this Vertex, “one million 641,000 women have been served; out of 2 million 650,000 registered women”.

“It has been comprehensive care. In the case of breast cancer care, we have more than 8,700 cases, we are the fifth country in the region. There is an increase in the young population due to poor eating habits, smoking, alcohol and sedentary lifestyle,” he said.

Jiménez announced the opening of the National Cancer Registry, so that all 55 Special Oncology Hospitals in the country can have a national patient registry.

“We have more than seven thousand transcribed patients. This will help to effectively monitor the case,” he said.

The Minister for Women and Gender Equality, Jhoanna Gabriela Carrillo, also presented the results of a meeting with the National Commission, where the “Love, Take Care, Examine Yourself” Campaign was developed.
