President Maduro stands in solidarity with the People of Chile for the death of Sebastián Piñera

This Tuesday, February 06, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, expressed his solidarity with the People of Chile, on the occasion of the death of former president Sebastián Piñera.

The head of state, in his account on the social network X, stated that “we join the grief that grieves the people of Chile in the face of the unfortunate death of former president Sebastián Piñera”.

“From Venezuela, we extend our sincere words of support and solidarity, wishing strength to all their families and friends. Peace to your soul!” , he said.

The former Chilean president died on February 6, after the private helicopter he was traveling in crashed over Lake Ranco, in the region of Los Ríos, in the south of the Latin American country.

The news was confirmed by the head of the Ministry of the Interior, Carolina Toha, who reported that a total of four people were traveling on the aircraft, of whom three managed to get out. The Carabineros corps managed to recover the body of the former president.

President Gabriel Boric instructed that a state funeral be held and that national mourning be declared.

Piñera was president of Chile for two terms: from 2010 to 2014 and from 2018 to 2022. He was previously a senator of the Republic.
