The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, signed this Tuesday, April 08, the Economic Emergency Decree, aimed at facilitating the Bolivarian Government to protect the national economy and guarantee goods and services to the Venezuelan people, in the face of the measures of the tariff war decreed by the United States government.

He explained that the decree in force for the next two months, “is the path of the national economy, fortunately, our Constitution, laws and our experience give us baggage, opportunities and a wide range of possibilities and options for what is the national effort.”

He argued that the primary objective is to fully protect all productive sectors of the country.

This was stated at the Caracas Polyhedron, where he led the activation of the Telecommunications Engine and New Technologies, within the framework of the International Telecommunications Fair 2025.

He emphasized that from the circumstance of global change in terms of tariffs, Venezuela will emerge stronger, with a better economic system, with more economic independence and more social justice.

He pointed out that it must be immediately handed over to the National Assembly (AN), to the Constitutional Chamber, “and we rely on article 337, 338 and 339 of the National Constitution.”

The head of state commented on the Economic Emergency Decree, which successfully allowed him, “the very difficult situation we experienced between 2016 and 2021. This was the first. Using this constitutional resource, I activated a set of multidimensional policies to defend the national economy.”
