President Maduro pays tribute to teacher Juan Vicente Torrealba (+Christmas)

The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, paid tribute this Monday to the teacher Juan Vicente Torrealba, 107 years after his birth.

“We remember the teacher Juan Vicente Torrealba, a prodigious singer, composer and harpist, legend of our traditional music, author of a brilliant work, recognized and awarded inside and outside of Venezuela. Long live his great musical legacy forever! Long live culture and traditions!” , he said through his X account.

Born in Caracas on February 20, 1917, this illustrious Creole teacher was a musician and composer, considered to be one of the most renowned harpists the country has had in its musical history.

Torrealba made approximately 130 albums, including LP's and 78 rpm recordings; in addition, he wrote more than 300 compositions, recorded ten compositions alongside a string orchestra, won more than 45 decorations and was designated as one of the 100 Latin American personalities of the 20th century, among others.
