This Tuesday, April 16, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, pointed out his counterpart from Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, for not having stood up to the world today at the Extraordinary Virtual Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).

“President Daniel Noboa should have stood up today in front of all of Latin America and the Caribbean, he should have come forward and taken responsibility (...) to the world and he hasn't shown his face,” criticized the Head of State.

He also called on the Foreign Minister of Ecuador, Gabriela Sommerfeld, to reflect, not thinking that her name will be tarnished for the rest of her life by these actions of the southern president against the Mexican embassy.

“Why hasn't President Daniel Noboa come forward? Are you not responsible for your actions? And it puts you, chancellor, to stain the rest of your story,” he questioned.

In that regard, he reiterated that President Noboa has gone into hiding and so the people of Ecuador should know. At the same time, he stressed that the Ecuadorian president has tainted with his actions “the legacy of the liberators who passed and filled those lands with greatness.”

He also reaffirmed that Noboa's recent statements are only an act of “provocation against Mexico, it is an act of provocation against international law and it is an absolute disregard for its entire legal framework.”
