This Monday, March 4th, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, specified that Venezuelan Military Aviation “has broken the record of intercepting and neutralizing drug trafficking aircraft coming from Colombia.”

“I say to the governments of the world, of France, of Europe; if you want to know in the world a successful model to combat drug trafficking, come and learn about the Venezuelan model,” he said during the broadcast of the 36th edition of the program “With Maduro+”.

“We have a fireproof policy, truly successful, because Commander Hugo Chávez made the decisions he had to make,” he said, while stressing that this first measure was the expulsion of the DEA (United States Drug Enforcement Administration) from the country.

He recalled that from there, Venezuela began building its own instruments to combat drug trafficking.

He also denounced the existence of a campaign to link Venezuela and its Government to drug trafficking. “A fallacy of last names said it: that Venezuela is the world's leading producer of cocaine,” he said.

In this regard, he reported that the Bolivarian Government will continue to strengthen the fight against drug trafficking and consumption in the country, “in that fight we must be proud of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces and of the intelligence and counterintelligence forces of the police forces and we will continue to move forward.”
