The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela,
Nicolás Maduro, led this Monday a meeting with members of the Landless Rural Workers Movement
of Brazil, from the Sol
del Perú room of the Miraflores Palace, in Caracas.
During his speech, the head of state indicated that a new moment has
arrived in Venezuela, in the geopolitical context of South America
and in the world and stressed that “it is time to accelerate the march, the steps and to
expand the real horizon of the dreams of several generations.”
“There will be no new society except in a new economy and
specifically carrying on dreams that we have talked to Commander
Hugo Chávez for a long time, with Commander Fidel Castro as well,” he recalled.
He highlighted the new project that has emerged in southern Venezuela,
“there at the head of Brazil in the Bolivar state, in first-rate land”,
referring to the joint initiative with the Brazilian movement in La
Vergareña.
“It has to be the epicenter of a productive project that
allows the installation in Venezuela of the productive, educational and informational model that
the Landless Movement has already developed for 40 years. We are admirers
of the Landless Movement project because we know that you have had
it under difficult circumstances swimming against the tide (...) here in
Venezuela the tide is in favor, so it's time to move forward,” he emphasized.
