The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás
Maduro, assured this Wednesday that if a meeting had been held with
former US president Donald Trump, during his administration, they would have
understood each other, but the magnate's advisors did not allow it.
During episode number 7 of the Maduro Podcast, the head of
state revealed that the meeting was scheduled for 2018 during his
participation in the General Assembly of the United Nations
(UN). “Donald Trump and I almost met the two of us. We wanted to see each other and
I was ready to go to meet Trump and we received the call that the meeting was being
postponed,” he said.
He recalled that the coordination had already been done, “and if Trump and I had
met we had understood each other, we would have
even become friends. We would have been friends, it's a conviction that I have here, don't tell
anyone, don't let them get out of here,” the Venezuelan dignitary laughed.
In this regard, he pointed out that “John Bolton and the foreign minister
there (United States), the Secretary of State, did everything possible
to avoid it, we would have avoided a lot of things, because Donald Trump was trapped and told 'Guaidó a great
leader' and 'Tomb Maduro, '” he said.
