President Maduro: Eliécer Otaiza was a reckless man of convictions

This Wednesday, February 7, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, highlighted the great courage and gallantry that the great revolutionary Eliécer Otaiza always demonstrated.

“Eliécer was a reckless man, he challenged death, several times and succeeded in the challenge of death; a man of convictions, a natural, extraordinary leader,” said the National Executive during episode No. 7 of the Maduro Podcast.

In that regard, he recalled that Otaiza was subjected to a public campaign and persecution by the right wing. “Until he was assassinated, in a manner similar to the assassination of Robert Serra. Some assassins, some thugs, surrounded him, kidnapped him and murdered him,” he said and mentioned that this investigation is an outstanding debt.

For her part, the Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, highlighted the admiration and affection she had for Otaiza from the moment she met him. “We knew from day one that we would be brothers forever, really, when we met, we worked together until they killed him,” he said.

Rodríguez also recalled that at the time when Otaiza was assassinated, Venezuela was experiencing very difficult times, “because it was a continuous permanent coup, violence, coup and oil sabotage.”
