A record of 200 heart surgeries per year, performed at the Dr. Gilberto Rodríguez Ochoa Latin American Children's Cardiological Hospital, is an extraordinary volume of procedures performed by medical professionals who are training in this health center.
This was stated by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, in the 1x10 segment Changing Lives, of the 66th broadcast of his program Con Maduro+, where he stressed that the Bolivarian Government managed to recover the aforementioned health center, “in the midst of the most criminal healings known, we have our guts in our hearts”.
“We have held out a conversation here and a talk there and we have learned to do a lot with what we have and more and more can be done,” he said.
He assured that the basis of all actions “is the love, ethics, morals and commitment of the medical staff of the Cardiological Hospital”.
President Maduro stressed that Venezuela has medical professionals of the highest level, trained in the country, “to save lives, this is a beautiful thing, that we are training professionals in all areas of knowledge of the medical sciences.”
The program introduced the mothers of a child who underwent surgery at this hospital, Yilsiver Castro, who emphasized that her son Neiver Castro underwent surgery thanks to the policies promoted by President Maduro, through 1×10, “that's when they called me and that's when we started this whole process to save my little boy's life.”
For her part, the director of the Latin American Children's Cardiological Hospital, Isabel Iturria, reported that in the coming days the Hospital will reach 14,000 interventions since its founding in 2006.
“The reason for this extraordinary work is our children. Today we are showing with a lot of effort what is beautiful, what is beautiful and that is why I tell you that tomorrow we have received 14,000 surgery since Commander Hugo Chávez inaugurated this hospital in 2006,” he said.
He added that “until today we have 13,998 and tomorrow we will reach this figure thanks to the Bolivarian Revolution and the people united with our government, and an important fact is that our surgeons participate in around 200 interventions a year.”
