President Maduro commemorates National Poetry Day

Through the social network X, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, commemorated the National Day of Poetry, as a tribute to one of the most cultured and sensitive Venezuelan writers, Achiles Nazoa.
“104 years after the birth of Achiles Nazoa, we celebrate Venezuelan poetry as a tribute to one of the most cultured and sensitive writers in the country, an eternal “Smiling Passerby”, a great militant of noble causes and defender of our cultural identity. Happy National Poetry Day!” , wrote the National President.
On December 13, 2019, President Nicolás Maduro declared May 17 as National Poetry Day in honor of the birth of Achiles Nazoa.
The announcement was made during the 2019 National Culture Award ceremony and the inauguration of the Aquiles Nazoa Cultural House, the Head of State added that every May 17 it will be held in schools, high schools, universities, communes and throughout the Republic.
