Diosdado Cabello recalled that in 2014, in the middle of guarimba, he risked his life to save that of Leopoldo López when his own opposing colleagues intended to assassinate him to set fire to the country and unleash chaos.

Talking with Diosdado Cabello, the Head of State, Nicolás Maduro, on his podcast, recalled when in 2014 he received a call with reliable information that indicated where “the criminal of Leopoldo López (who was a fugitive from justice) was hidden and that they would also go to assassinate him because that would be the spark that would ignite the country”.

“When I heard the information, I identified the voice: it was Antonio Ledezma and I immediately called Diosdado and asked him to go out and talk to Leopoldo López's family, to show them the evidence and to go to justice to save his life,” he recalled.

In this regard, Cabello said that at that time he went out to López's family's house and explained that his life was in danger.

“López's wife contacted him and his delivery was agreed. They were left behind to save him. I risked my life to pass in the middle of an opposition demonstration to get to his family's house and there they didn't even comply and because of the show they decided otherwise,” recalled the first vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela.
