“We salute the Cuban people who, with joy and optimism, commemorate 92 years since the arrival of the revolutionary hero Camilo Cienfuegos to the world,” in this way, the head of state, Nicolás Maduro, paid tribute to the revolutionary on the occasion of commemorating 92 years since his birth.

Through his account on the social network X, the president described Cienfuegos as a “rebel commander, a courageous, supportive, loyal and patriotic man, a symbol of the purest ideals of the Antillean youth”.

Camilo Cienfuegos was born on February 6, 1932, in the Lawton neighborhood, Havana. Son of emigrants Ramón Cienfuegos Flores and Emilia Gorriarán Zaballa, both of Spanish nationality.

His rebellious spirit was awakened at an early age, so on March 10, 1952, after the coup d'etat of Fulgencio Batista , he joined other young people to oppose the dictatorship.
