The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, emphasized that 30 years after the release of Commander Hugo Chávez from the Dignity Prison, “the Bolivarian Hurricane is still alive in the heart of the humble people, of the ordinary people.”

This was emphasized by the head of state, when he shared anecdotes with the fighters of February 4, 1992. “We are moving forward with love for the Fatherland,” he added during an event on the occasion of the commemoration of the 30th Anniversary of the release of Commander Hugo Chávez from the Prison of Dignity, in Miranda state.

“On March 26th, a day like today 30 years ago, Commander Arias Cárdenas, was governor of Zulia, and the revolutionary Pedro Alastre, we met again in a security team where they had put us, I was in the second ring to protect him,” he recalled.

He also commented that during his visit to the aforementioned compound, Commander Chávez told him that from that moment on his code name was: Green.

“He gave me a card with his phone and I would call him and give us some tasks, which would be revealed in 50 years and we went to complete the tasks. I would call him in the evenings from public phones, we would talk, talk and talk,” he said.

He said that “we fulfilled his tasks, we toured part of the country”.

For her part, during the tour of the spaces of the Prison of Dignity, where she met Commander Hugo Chávez, the first female combatant, Cilia Flores, recalled that on every visit she carried with her the sentiment of the People towards the courageous fighters who led the civic-military rebellion of February 4, 1992.

“30 years later we are with them and on the path of Chávez,” he said.
