The President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, received this Wednesday the Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, who was on an official visit to Havana to strengthen ties of brotherhood between the two nations.

After the meeting, in which Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez also participated, the Venezuelan diplomat reaffirmed his “commitment to strengthening solidarity, cooperation and diplomatic alliance in a context of significant challenges” for both peoples, “marked by the persistence of obsolete imperialist measures in a new multipolar world in gestation,” he wrote in his X account.

He also thanked the Cuban head of state “for the pleasant reception and his words of unconditional support to the Government and people of Venezuela,” while conveying greetings from President Nicolás Maduro, in addition to the “commitment to continue this historic friendship and revolutionary struggle.”

Foreign Minister Gil explained that his visit to the West Indian Island aimed to review bilateral cooperation agreements, which represent an “example for the world” relationship, based on complementarity and solidarity between both governments, “but also between both peoples, with wonders that we have built, such as, in the case of Venezuela, the Miracle Mission, the Barrio Adentro Mission, the entire issue of economic social care, agricultural and industrial production, all the energy production that we can exhibit in these years, despite the blockade, of sanctions, of the aggressions of North American imperialism,” he said in statements after the meeting with the Cuban dignitary.

He explained that during his stay in Cuba, together with Foreign Minister Rodríguez, he reviewed all the advances, challenges and challenges of the two countries, “at a time when the model of selfishness, hatred and aggression (in reference to capitalism) is trying to reverse this situation. We are winning, we have a lot of prospects,” he added.

They also reviewed multilateral aspects and the global scenario, as well as the advances of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America - Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP), whose Summit of Heads of State and Government was recently held in Caracas.

“We have a lot of projects, a lot of hopes, navigating a rather complex international scenario where imperialism continues to attack, continues to promote war, continues to promote blockades, but where the peoples of Our America, such as Cuba and Venezuela and the peoples of Alba, well, are building a different path, a path of hope, a path of growth, a path of attention to their people,” he emphasized.
