The President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, led this Saturday the delivery of the Emilio Gimón Sterling Educational Complex, in the state of La Guaira, after completing the reconstruction and rehabilitation work carried out by the Venezuela Renace Plan.
During the tour, the authorities noted the recovery of the preschool, as well as of the computer, multipurpose and computing rooms. The installation of new air conditioning systems and the remodeling of the sports court and dining room, spaces equipped for the well-being of student enrollment, were also verified.
The recovery process included technical soil studies, geotechnical evaluation and civil engineering works to raise structural safety standards. The complex, initially founded in 1937, bears its name in honor of the educator of Dutch origin, Emilio Gimón Sterling, who lived in Venezuela and dedicated more than 25 years of his life to teaching.
According to the authorities present, including the governor of the entity José Alejandro Terán and the mayor José Manuel Suárez, with this campus there are 121 modernized and rehabilitated educational institutions in La Guaira. Of the total of 300 sites evaluated after the earthquakes, 167 were affected, 11 collapsed and will be rebuilt from scratch, while 112 had minor damage or a yellow label.
The activity was accompanied by the sole authority for the contingency, Major General Juan Ernesto Zumbarán. The deployment is part of the instructions of the National Executive to recover school infrastructure through the Military Community Brigades for Education and Health (BRICOMILES), followed by the Minister of Education, Héctor Rodríguez.
