This Sunday, Pope Francis appeared in public for the first time after five weeks after being hospitalized since February 14 at the Gemelli University Hospital in Rome, where he recovered from bilateral pneumonia.

The Vatican New reported that the highest authority of the Catholic Church went out in a wheelchair to the hospital balcony, where he greeted the crowd and blessed all those present who were waiting for his appearance; he also called for an end to all the wars that plague different parts of the world.

The supreme pontiff, during the last Angelus of his stay at Gemelli Hospital, emphasized the care of the medical staff who assisted him and then expressed his pain at the resumption of the bombing of Gaza.

In addition to expressing hope for the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, nations involved in a conflict for more than three decades.

“I call for an immediate ceasefire and for the courage to resume dialogue, release all hostages and achieve a definitive ceasefire. The humanitarian situation in the Strip is once again very serious and requires the urgent commitment of the warring parties and the international community,” the pope told those present.

“I am pleased that Armenia and Azerbaijan have reached an agreement on the final text of the Peace Agreement. I hope that it will be signed as soon as possible and can thus contribute to the establishment of a lasting peace in the Southern Caucasus,” he said.

Francis concluded by thanking all those who pray for him, with a plea that “wars cease and peace be made, especially in the tormented Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, Lebanon, Myanmar, Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo”.
