On December 20, 2009 at Aló Presidente 346 in Catia Sucre parish, Commander Hugo Chávez announced the creation of the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) in compliance with the Bolivarian Constitution to guarantee peace and protection for Venezuelans.
The PNB is the product of hard work carried out by the National Commission for Police Reform (CONAREPOL) starting in 2006, in which the operational and administrative cleansing of the Metropolitan Police (PM) was carried out, which migrated personnel who complied with the values of respect for human dignity, academic training, citizen conscience and dedication in life to the protection of the people.
The creation of the PNB is based on article 332 of the Constitution, which establishes that the National Executive, in order to maintain and restore public order, protect citizens, homes, families, support the decisions of the competent authorities and ensure the peaceful enjoyment of constitutional guarantees and rights, in accordance with the law, shall organize:
• A uniformed national police force.
• A body of scientific, criminal and criminal investigations.
• A fire and fire department, management of civil emergencies.
• A civil protection and disaster management organization.
Public security bodies are civil in nature and will respect human dignity and rights, without any discrimination.
Therefore, today more than ever, the men and women of the PNB remain committed to Venezuela and its people to continue providing them with security and tranquility in every corner of the Homeland.
