The governor of the state of Carabobo, Rafael Lacava, inspected the Castillito Plant together with Rudy González, general manager of the National Electric Corporation (CORPOELEC), where he announced the addition of three machines to generate an additional 100 megawatts to the system.
Lacava reported a restructuring in the cargo administration, whose scheme will divide the cuts of six to three hours into two blocks to reduce the impact on the population.
He emphasized that the Castillito Plant is part of a national pilot plan. The infrastructure supplies energy directly to the municipalities of Valencia, Naguanagua and San Diego.
“The scheme has started to pay off because we divided the old administration into six continuous hours. This avoids consumption peaks when equipment and inverters are turned on in homes,” he said.
The president attributed the increase in electricity demand to regional economic growth. He pointed out that the emergence of new businesses in the 14 municipalities requires greater generation capacity.
In this context, the national authorities presented a balance sheet on the recovery of the National Electricity System (SEN). The plan projects to incorporate 1,300 megawatts in the last quarter of 2026.
The goal includes the activation of Unit 6 of Planta Centro with 600 megawatts. It also contemplates the entry of seven units into the state of Zulia with more than 500 megawatts.
The authorities specified that the date of the Machango Plant is scheduled for next year. Meanwhile, the regional government reaffirms its efforts to optimize service in the entity.
