The first vice-president of the National Assembly (AN), Pedro Infante, exercised his right to vote in the communal circuit of the Rogelio Castillo Gamarra commune, in Petare, where he stressed that the day allows us to choose social infrastructure projects, such as a house for grandparents, care for autism and stairs with handrails, instead of choosing a particular person.
The parliamentarian reported that the process is taking place with more than 12 thousand tables activated by the National Electoral Council (CNE), more than 11 thousand voting centers and 5 thousand 418 communal circuits throughout the country. “A set of popular consultations has been developed that is a concrete expression of participatory and leading democracy,” said Infante, who explained that 22 community councils participate in his circuit.
The deputy also emphasized the importance of this mechanism for local decision-making. “You don't choose a particular person, that's why it's very important to continue consolidating popular power and participatory democracy,” he said, highlighting the participation of youth and entrepreneurs who build proposals in favor of their communities.
Infante linked the day to the national dialogue promoted by the Executive. “President Delcy Rodríguez has maintained her efforts to promote the popular consultation as a fundamental mechanism for the consolidation of democracy,” she said, and invited the population to go to the electoral centers to continue building the country.
