The first vice-president of the National Assembly (AN), Deputy Pedro Infante (PSUV/Miranda), reported that the Reform of the National Electricity System Law will improve service and promote investment in the sector.
According to a press release from the Legislative Branch, this Thursday, at the end of the regular session where 70 articles of the bill were approved, the parliamentarian explained that the legal initiative contemplates unlocking administrative knots and opening space for private and foreign investment, in order to provide the economic muscle required by the National Electricity System.
Infante also specified that, thanks to the contribution of various sectors of the country, the regulatory proposal preserves the central role of the State in the strategic functions of the system, while enabling self-generation for areas such as the oil industry, in order to protect the supply of citizens.
The legislative discussion progressed to Article 95 and, as explained by the parliamentarian, there are just over 20 articles left to complete the project that harmonizes the competencies of the national, state and municipal levels with the objective of optimizing the provision of the service.
In addition, faced with complaints about power cuts in different regions of the country, he called for maintaining confidence in the tasks carried out, in an articulated manner, by the National Executive, the governorates and the municipalities for the maintenance, pruning and replacement of transformers.
Finally, he indicated that the institutions are working in an initial phase focused on mitigating current failures to move, progressively, towards the full stabilization and satisfaction of electricity demand throughout the national territory.
