In an important step forward in the full restoration of diplomatic relations, the President of the Republic of Paraguay, Santiago Peña, received this Monday the Credential Letters of the designated ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Ricardo Capella, in a protocol ceremony held at the government palace in the city of Asunción.

“I just spoke with the President of the Republic about several issues, we are already planning a rum, cocoa and coffee fair, and some other issues that we can relate between the two countries,” Ambassador Capella told local television, after the delivery of the credentials that formalize him as Head of Mission in the South American nation.

On January 22, the diplomat assigned the Style Copies to the Paraguayan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Rubén Ramírez Lezcano, a procedure prior to accreditation before the Head of State.

President Nicolás Maduro congratulated the Paraguayan president Santiago Peña, for his victory in the elections of April 30, 2023, through a telephone conversation in which they agreed to re-establish diplomatic relations, fractured since 2019.

The diplomat Ricardo Capella has just held the position of Consul General in Barcelona, Kingdom of Spain.
