Paola Zerpa and Jesús Tovar scored points in the world table tennis ranking

Venezuelan tennis players Paola Zerpa and Jesús Tovar scored points in the world ranking of their different categories, after reaching the finals of the WTT Youth Contender Argentina.
The woman from Caracas began her way to the final of the contest by beating her Argentinian counterparts Alexia Salusso and Sophia Castellano by 3 sets to 0 respectively.
The national under-13 champion of the discipline advanced to the quarterfinals by BYE of her opponent, and dominated 3 sets against Argentina's Malena Giménez, who gave up in all of them.
In the semifinals of the category, Zerpa showed absolute dominance by winning 3 sets to 2 against Florencia Paiva, the first athlete to win a gold medal in table tennis for Paraguay.
Zerpa closed the competition with second place after a close game of 2 sets to 3 against the representative of Slovenia, Barbora Guassardo.
Category U19
For his part, Tovar led the first round of group 12 of the U19 men's individual category, with three victories, in addition to a total of six points.
The triple national champion reached the round of 32 to beat Paraguayan Matías Ayala by 3 sets to 1, and repeated the victory in the round of 16 by 3 sets to 0 against Iván Pastores.
Tovar won in the quarterfinals with 3 sets to 1 against his Brazilian rival Lucas Romanski and celebrated his way to the semifinals where he took third place in the category.
With this remarkable result, the Criollos Paola Zerpa, Liudwing Perozo, Jesús Tovar, Nathacha Mata, Jonathan Vegas, Carlos Ríos and Dakota Ferrer complete their participation in this competition.
