200 years after the battle of Ayacucho, the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) continues, like our liberators, to forge peace, solidarity and cooperation between sister peoples, said Defense Minister G/J Vladimir Padrino López.

In a statement on the occasion of the commemoration of this heroic feat, the senior military official explained that the FANB remains committed to the precepts of the Bolivarian Doctrine, willing to build a multipolar multicentric world and strengthened in the national, patriotic and revolutionary identity of this beautiful Republic.

Below is the full statement:

“Soldiers! The fate of South America depends on today's efforts; another day of glory will crown your admirable perseverance. Soldiers! : Long live the Liberator! Long live Bolivar, Salvador of Peru!. Antonio José de Sucre, December 9, 1824.

The extensive and imposing Pampa de la Quinua, Ayacucho Department in Peru, was the scene of the epic contest in which the splendid Liberation Army faced with courage and determination the stronghold of realistic troops that were still occupying South American soil. This magnanimous act of arms devised by the Father of the Fatherland Simon Bolivar and masterfully commanded by the General in Chief Antonio José de Sucre: not only did it seal the independence of the Andean nation, but it also elevated the Liberation Campaign of the South, marking the end and definitive expulsion of the Spanish empire in our continent, giving way to the formation of new nations decided irrevocably - to be free, sovereign and independent, building the integrationist foundations that consolidated the project of Gran Colombia.

Two hundred years later, Bolivarian soldiers were filled with national pride as they recalled the exploits of that December 9, 1824, when the indomitable patriotic forces, overcoming the harsh conditions of a complex Andean system, sculpted with the most hostile earthquake environments that a man could face, managed to develop brilliant tactical maneuvers that shone through all the ingenuity, brilliance and military leadership of El Abel de América, in order to defeat the enemy army in a resounding defeat. The glorious Battle of Ayacucho has left significant lessons of courage, determination, tenacity, sacrifice and how the heroic Venezuelan people are magnified in the face of adverse circumstances. These principles taken up and extolled by the Bolivarian Revolution in the 21st century continue to inspire our anti-colonialist, anti-oligarchic and anti-imperialist struggles.

In this Bicentennial, the men and women of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces pay homage not only to the heroes of Ayacucho, but to the just cause they defended. For this reason, we continue to forge peace, solidarity and cooperation between sister peoples; always committed to the precepts of the Bolivarian Doctrine willing to build a multipolar multicentric world and strengthened in the national, patriotic and revolutionary identity of this beautiful Republic. Long live the Glories of Ayacucho who eternally destined Freedom to us! Chávez Vivel. The Homeland Continues! I Independence and Socialist Fatherland... We Will Live and We Will Conquer! The Venezuelan sun rises in the Essequibo! Independence or Nothing! I Loyal Always Traitors Never!”
