“The streets belong to the people not to the oligarchy, 66 years ago the Venezuelan people managed to overthrow a dictatorship supported by the United States,” said Jorge Arreaza, political liaison of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), in Barinas, during the Long March of “January 23".

Arreaza recalled that in January 1958 the town left the street and remained until Marco Pérez Jiménez ran away with his suitcase of money, on a plane called La Vaca Sagrada to live between the Dominican Republic, the United States and Spain.

He also highlighted the struggle of Fabricio Ojeda, a journalist, deputy and tireless activist against the dictatorship of Marcos Pérez Jiménez, “he recognized that the struggles had not reached the safe destination, he went from the Congress of the Republic to the mountains, and I took the guns to defend the people, to defend Venezuelan democracy.”

In that regard, he assured that the Venezuelan people will never be betrayed again and “we have not and will not betray them.”

Arreaza, recalled the arrival of Commander Hugo Chávez to political power in Venezuela, “almost 25 years ago he arrived at the Miraflores Palace, walking, accompanied by the people, “a people that are still in the streets, loyal, steadfast, battle after battle, has won them all”.

The minister of People's Power for Communes and Social Movements, also assured that the members of the Red Awning party are not going to leave the streets under any circumstances. Today we gave a beautiful demonstration, we honored Commander Chávez. I don't know where Donald Trump is, but if I know where Nicolás Maduro Moros is, he's in the Miraflores Palace.”
