Every January 24, the day of Our Lady of Peace or Our Lady of Peace is celebrated in the state of Trujillo, spiritual patron of this Venezuelan entity approximately since 1568.

In his honor, on December 21, 1983, the monument to Our Lady of Peace was inaugurated, the tallest sculpture in Latin America, more than 46.72 meters high and weighing 1,200 tons; a majestic work designed by the sculptor Manuel de La Fuente and the engineer Rosendo Camargo.

The construction of the monument lasted 18 months and is considered the tallest work in the world in honor of the Virgin Mary. It has five viewpoints, from where you can see part of the state of Trujillo, the Sierra Nevada de Mérida and the South of Lake Maracaibo del Zulia.
