On November 29 , Venezuela celebrates Writer's Day in commemoration of the birth of Andrés Bello, one of the most important men in Latin America who left an important legacy in Venezuelan and world literature, which is why he is known as the Liberator of American Arts.
One of Bello's fundamental concerns was the preservation of the Castilian language as a providential means of communication between American peoples, since the wise man feared that the confusion of languages, dialects and jargon, the Babylonian chaos of the Middle Ages, would be reproduced here.
That is why he published Grammar of the Castilian Language intended for use by Americans, to preserve the language. Amado Alonso and Pedro Henríquez Ureña agreed that this work is not only the best grammar in the Spanish language, but one of the best in modern times in any language.
On this day in Venezuela, different activities are held to commemorate those who are passionate about letters and make it an art for the delight of readers. In the same way, Venezuela honors the memory of this beautiful humanist and sublime creator, with his name on avenues, squares and universities in Caracas.
