Nicolás Maduro: I accept the presidential candidacy for the elections on July 28!

The president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Nicolás Maduro, said: “I accept the presidential candidacy for the elections on July 28!”

He emphasized that he accepted, “given the decision that the People have taken in the territory and that they have ratified this V Extraordinary Congress of the PSUV and this IV Extraordinary Congress of the JPSUV”.

In his speech, he commented on some political events in recent years, “I have thought a lot about this decision, a lot, a lot. In 2013, I went to the fight, to the battle, because Chávez gave me an order, gave us an order and swore an oath and I swore absolute loyalty to him and to the people.”

In that direction, he pointed out that he went to that electoral battle, “and we triumphed, overcoming the tears, the pain, the loneliness of orphans that we felt. In 2018, we had just defeated the guarimbas and the civil war, with the Constituent Assembly we set the country on track and won peace.”
