The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, stressed that the Bolivarian Government is in a permanent battle for truth and not for a second, in 21st century Venezuela, “we must cease, surrender in this battle for truth.”

“In the battle that Venezuela is waging, we have to reaffirm our convictions of freedom of expression, thought, creation on the basis of forging a people with values, cultured, educated, aware,” he emphasized.

The approach was made at the Miraflores Palace, on the occasion of the award ceremony of the “Simon Bolivar” National Journalism Award 2024, where he argued that this battle “must lead us to turn social communication into a weapon, into an instrument of social and political change”.

“If social communication is good for something or has to do, it's to seek changes for the better,” he said.

In this sense, he considered that the strength of journalism, social communication and truth “must be a force that creates changes to overcome problems, to make us aware of how a certain situation was reached, of the paths, to denounce the injustices, the indolences of bureaucratism and the corrupt with a name and surname”.

“I believe in journalism as an exercise of thought, of freedom and as a creative force for the changes that Venezuela needs,” he ratified.
