During the official balance sheet following the attack against the National Electricity System (SEN) that interrupted service throughout the national territory, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, thanked the economic sectors for activating their emergency protocols to ensure the continuity of activities.
“More than 90% of the country's active supermarkets, 100% of the municipal and popular markets worked, 60% of the businesses also kept working,” he said.
From the Presidential Command Post located in the Miraflores Palace, he recognized the commitment to the country of businessmen, merchants, entrepreneurs and workers and emphasized that Venezuela must continue on the path of economic recovery and growth that it has experienced in the last 13 months without interruption.
He denounced that these attacks against public services committed by opposition extremism led by Edmundo González Urrutia and María Corina Machado, “in addition to disturbing social peace, seek to damage the economy and we are not going to allow it.”
“I have already asked Vice President Delcy Rodríguez, who is at the Guri hydroelectric plant with the minister (for Electric Energy, Jorge) Márquez supervising the restoration of the electricity service, to calculate the economic damage caused by this attack of fascism against the economy,” he said.
