The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro announced that the call to Finance Minister Delcy Rodríguez and the National Tax Superintendent, José David Cabello, to increase tax collection in the country, generated an increase of 54% during the month of January 2024.

“I have to say that in the month of January we increased taxes by 52%, that is, productive activity and the payment of taxes increased and with these revenues go to the People in health, education, workers' income, housing, infrastructure, 1x10 of Good Government, Great Missions, etc.,” said the National President.

In this regard, the Executive Vice President of the Republic also stressed that, in order to increase tax revenue, they work to optimize taxes based on economic balance, supply-demand-consumer and place emphasis on luxury taxes so as not to touch the raw material of essential goods such as food, medicines, etc.

The Minister of Finance said that it is being evaluated to keep those relating to capital goods within tax exemptions to strengthen the country's industrial platform.

The Head of State, in this regard, called for determining the necessary exemptions for the social welfare of the People since there are exemptions requested by officials of the National Executive that have been suspended.

“We are going to continue to increase revenue, but for this reason we are going to make a call in the coming days to talk with the economic sectors about a major fiscal reform necessary within the national consensus of economic recovery, first T or necessary transformation within the framework of the 2024-2030 Patria plan,” said the president.
