In honor of the Virgin of Carmen, patron of the Bolivarian Army and the Venezuelan Police, since 1944, every July 16 is commemorated on National Police Day, as a recognition of the men and women who maintain public order and protect citizens.

The job of a policeman is a job full of risks. Every day, the officials who make up the different security forces face endless dangers, being the first link in the struggle in the defense of the people, in addition to being responsible for the investigation and clarification of punishable acts.

Since the arrival of the Bolivarian Revolution, Commander Hugo Chávez charted the path for the transformation of the police system to a humanist model that prioritizes peace and citizen coexistence at all times, so in 2009 he founded the Bolivarian National Police (PNB).

In addition, the National Experimental Security University (UNES) was created, through Presidential Decree number 6,616 of February 10, 2009, for the purpose of continuous training, intellectual creation and social bonding at the service of the Venezuelan people, with a view to the professionalization and integral development of the personnel that make up the citizen security bodies.

Venezuela honors the work of the police in their day, men and women who risk their lives for the safety and protection of the people.
