The national production of margarine currently stands at 91%, while that of butter at 78% and that of oils at 71%, reported the National Coordinator of Fats and Oils of the National Superintendency of Agrifood Management (SUNAGRO), Félix Romero.
During a working meeting with the Minister of Productive Agriculture and Lands, G/D Menry Fernández, Romero explained that this achievement was possible thanks to the committed work of men and women who work in the Palma Sovereign Plan, advanced by the National Government.
In this regard, Romero, who is also president of Diana Industries, indicated that one of the milestones achieved by this plan “is the upcoming inauguration of the Palmeras Diana del Lago oil palm nursery, located in the state of Zulia. This new infrastructure will be essential to guarantee the availability of a 100% certified palm plant and accelerate the expansion of cultivated areas.”
In this regard, according to a press release from Industrias Diana, the head of Productive Agriculture explained that large tracts of palm plantations have been recovered in the country, care has been given to farmers who work in this sector, and the productive link between primary production, extractors and refiners has been promoted.
“All of this impacted not only on the shelves of the Venezuelan people, on the consumption of oil, margarine and butter, but also achieved sustained growth in the agro-industrial sector. To be able to start Diana Industries in a positive way and recover Coposa, which was at 2% of domestic production and today is at 83%,” said the minister.
In addition, Fernández emphasized that with the Palma Soberana Plan, it was possible to break with smuggling to Colombia, strengthening the public and private sectors and recovering sovereign production in this sector.
