The Bolivarian Government, through the Presidential Commission for the Recovery of the Central University of Venezuela, is carrying out the rehabilitation works of the Alonso Gamero Library of the Faculty of Sciences.

A series of works have been carried out at the site, such as the waterproofing of the roof to solve the building's problem of leaks, the newspaper Última Noticias reported, citing information from the Presidential Commission.

The architect Alfredo Mariño specified that the rehabilitation of the rainwater drainage system was also completed, which, together with the roof, was the most critical part of the warehouses.

The advisor to the Presidential Commission for the Recovery of the UCV indicated that they painted the space and reorganized the offices to provide a better environment for the staff.

Likewise, the south façade of the library was restored, which is divided into two areas, one that serves as a book storage and the other that is the reading room.

The architect stressed that the work on the floor and the air conditioning need to be completed before the library reopens its doors to the university community of the Faculty of Sciences, whose headquarters are located in the former Luis Caballero Mejías Industrial Technical School, on Avenida Los Ilustres, and which since the 70s became part of the UCV.
