Every March 18, the National Day of the Indigenous Child is commemorated, as part of the tribute to those who are the present and future of those who planted their first mark on these lands, which they defended with courage and fierceness in the face of imperial ignominy.

This day had been celebrated since 1981 in the Guajira municipality of the state of Zulia, where only Wayúu Children's Day was celebrated, but it spread throughout the country until it became a national date to honor all the infant children of our aborigines.

Since the arrival of the Bolivarian Revolution, it has vindicated original peoples, morally, socially and legally. Recognizing their history of resistance and their heroism in defending ancient memory.

Today, all the people express their embrace and deep love for these little ones in whose veins flows the warrior and courageous blood of our ancient parents and who receive from our country and people, the love of being the most worthy heirs of the glories of Guaicaipura.
